Requirements
  • Hold a respiratory therapist license applicable to the state where services will be performed: Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner, Ohio Respiratory Care Professional, Pennsylvania Respiratory Therapist, or West Virginia Licensed Respiratory Therapist Certified or Licensed Respiratory Therapist Registered.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Complete department-established certifications or qualifications as applicable, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, STABLE, and Point of Care Technician through the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources.
  • Be able to remain on feet or walk for extended periods.
  • Be able to lift, push, and/or pull 40 pounds.
  • Maintain awareness of environmental factors and infection control issues and maintain a safe environment for patient care.
  • Have interpersonal communication skills when interacting with the public, patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Demonstrate multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate respiratory therapy patients and provide care.
  • Administer prescribed respiratory therapeutic services.
  • Perform basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by physician order.
  • Assemble, check, and correct malfunctions and perform quality control on respiratory care equipment.
  • Initiate, maintain, and discontinue mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Communicate with healthcare team members regarding all aspects of patient care.
  • Assist with patient and family or caregiver education alongside other healthcare team members.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities.
  • Perform basic and advanced diagnostic procedures for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by physician order.
  • Maintain clinical and professional competency based on established standards of practice.
  • Perform all relevant departmental competencies.
  • Cover open shifts on an as-needed basis.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hold Registered Respiratory Therapist status.
  • Have two years of respiratory therapist experience.
