Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in substation construction leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in delivering high-voltage substation projects in Australia or similar markets.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian standards (AS/NZS) and WHS requirements.
  • Familiarity with substation equipment installation and commissioning processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the construction of high-voltage substations (up to 500kV), including civil, structural, and electrical works.
  • Supervise site activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and ensure constructability.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Oversee installation of primary equipment, protection systems, and auxiliary services.
  • Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and progress reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian standards, utility requirements, and WHS regulations.
  • Support project scheduling, resource planning, and cost control.
  • Act as the primary interface between construction teams, project managers, and clients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility for Engineers Australia registration.
  • Experience with major Australian utilities or EPC contractors.
  • Knowledge of environmental and planning approval processes.
  • Familiarity with HV testing and commissioning procedures.
