What success looks like in this role:
- Provides mostly tier 2 (and sometimes tier 3) support within the networking environment.
- Successful provisioning as well as supervision, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This also includes the installation of new systems, rebuilding existing systems, configuration of hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with customer/ government standards.
- Configuration management of Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Wireless (LANs), network segments, security devices and Internet and Intranet systems to ensure operability. Installation and maintenance, network hardware and software, analyze problems, and monitor networks to ensure their availability to users.
- Maintains, monitors and troubleshoots within the roles of Incident Management (Return-to-Service) and/or Problem Management (Reason for Outage).
- Evaluates a system’s performance and identifies user needs based on approved software per customer specifications.
- Supports acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
- Works with team to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may assist with system design efforts.
- Contributes to the preparation and presentation of technical trade-offs and/or results to managers, customers and peers.
- Works closely with network operations, systems and other groups on business projects, assignments, problems, etc.
- Ensures proper documentation for the corporate knowledgebase, including design, procedural and lessons learned. This also includes maintaining and updating existing documentation.
- Monitors the Network and System Enterprise with provided tools to ensure the health of the critical client solutions.
- Maintains on-call availability to respond to network issues and up-time; must be flexible and available with the scheduling.
- Contributes to technical artifacts through team/program SharePoint and/or communities of practice.
- Provides appropriate mentoring, feedback, training and development opportunities to help individuals within the team reach their full potential.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in relative area of study, master’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience and certifications
- 5+ years total combined relevant experience.
- Proficiency in the following Network Devices with a deep understanding of designing, configuring, implementing, and maintaining:
- Aruba and Cisco Switches,
- Aruba Wireless,
- Multi-Vendor Firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Firepower),
- Forcepoint Proxies,
- Trend Micro IPS/IDS,
- F5 load balancers,
- Critical physical network infrastructure cabling in a Data Center and Campus environment
- Demonstrated experience in managing Network services for hybrid and multicloud environments for large enterprises
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate direction, commit people to action, and convey complex information in easily understood formats.
- The role requires an individual that is highly collaborative with strong influencing skills, ambitious, creative, highly resourceful, self-driven and results oriented. extensive experience in infrastructure strategy, public and private cloud, networks, server, storage, and operations.
- The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, utilize sound business judgement, and employ problem-solving expertise.
- Operate independently and autonomously in absence of strict guidance.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and infrastructure components.
- Demonstrated experience of networking technologies and cloud networking
- Demonstrates strong knowledge across a wide range of services and solutions.
- Experience in implementing automation to drive operational efficiencies in network operations.
