At Acqueon, we are passionate about excellence in every facet of the business. As an extension of that vision, we are looking for someone to lead Acqueon’s legal function as Head of Legal to provide council that will help shape and execute policies, processes, and decisions that reflect this standard of excellence. As Head of Legal at Acqueon, you will play a vital role in advising US and Global operations on legal matters that will directly affect the company, its employees, and its customers. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly experienced in dealing with in-house corporate law (ideally in a SaaS company environment) and who is organized, energetic, and hard-working.
As Head of Legal
As Head of Legal you will have many responsibilities related to maintaining the legality of Acqueon’s business practices both internally and externally. Many of those practices include:
- Legal Strategy and Advisory:
- Develop and implement the company’s legal strategy in alignment with its business goals.
- Provide legal advice to executives and senior management on various legal matters, including contracts, compliance, and risk management.
- Contract Management:
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and management of contracts with clients, vendors, and partners.
- Ensure that contracts are legally sound and mitigate risks for the company.
- Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
- Ensure the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations in US, India, and Canada, including data protection laws, intellectual property laws, and industry-specific regulations.
- Monitor changes in legislation that could impact the company and adjust policies and practices accordingly.
- Intellectual Property:
- Manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
- Oversee IP strategy, including protection, enforcement, and licensing of IP assets.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Handle litigation and dispute resolution, including managing outside counsel when necessary.
- Corporate Governance:
- Ensure that the company’s governance practices comply with legal requirements and best practices.
- Support the board of directors and management with corporate governance issues and documentation.
- Policy Development:
- Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and risk management.
- Provide training and resources to employees on legal matters and company policies.
- Litigation Management:
- Oversee any legal disputes or litigation involving the company.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel and manage the company’s legal budget.
- Mergers and Acquisitions:
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions from a legal perspective.
- Conduct due diligence and ensure legal aspects of transactions are addressed.
- Team Management:
- Lead and manage the legal department, including recruiting, mentoring, and evaluating team members.
- Allocate resources and manage the legal budget effectively.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as a liaison between the company and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry groups, and legal entities.
- Communicate legal issues and developments to internal and external parties as necessary.
As Head of Legal you will need
- 10-15+ years of experience working in corporate law or council
- Comprehensive knowledge of SaaS company practices
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong functional acumen
- Excellent planning skills, ability to effectively manage priorities for self to meet business requirements and deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Self-Leadership skills, ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results, and ability to influence and inspire action
