Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Possess a valid Licensed Practical Nurse license in good standing according to state and federal requirements.
- Have a thorough understanding of safe and effective nursing practices in Indiana.
- Have basic computer skills and knowledge of programs such as Excel and Word.
- Demonstrate personal integrity and the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and personnel.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care, health services, safety, and comfort for residents.
- Conduct professional assessments and document residents' health status.
- Assist with management of assigned nursing unit staff.
- Supervise, perform, and provide written and verbal care assignments, routine skills, and procedures to ensure quality resident care.
- Participate in developing and implementing resident care plans, keep nursing care plans current, document progress, and recommend revisions according to facility policy and procedure.
- Make daily and periodic visits to observe symptoms and reactions to medication or treatment.
- Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, weights, diet supplements and replacements, cultures, and related clinical information.
- Assist with staff orientation and ongoing training to maintain required skill levels.
- Report and document resident or visitor incidents, accidents, complaints, and allegations according to facility policy and procedure using the designated occurrence reporting system.
