Requirements
  • Experience of engaging and providing meaningful support to individuals with complex support needs.
  • Experience of communicating effectively with people requiring support.
  • Experience of working in a hostel or supported housing environment.
  • Experience of recording relevant sensitive information in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of at least one issue related to homelessness, including the benefits system, substance use, mental or physical health, the criminal justice system, or social and private rented housing.
  • Some experience of supporting people who may be affected by homelessness, poor mental health, and substance use.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and their application.
  • Experience of working with people in crisis.
  • Ability to access and engage with individuals in community settings, including covering significant distances and spending several hours undertaking outreach activities.
  • Applicants must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom at the time of application.
  • The post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Responsibilities
  • Go on outreach shifts, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, across a seven-day service.
  • Engage with rough sleepers and people involved in street-based antisocial behaviour.
  • Work overnight shifts in the night shelter or winter accommodation over a seven-day period.
  • Work with partner agencies to support service users in accessing accommodation, physical and mental health services, substance use treatment services, and benefits.
  • Accurately record interactions with service users and other professionals, along with related support plans.
