This position is a job rotation anticipated to last 12 months, though may be extended or decreased due to business need. This rotation available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision with their current manger's approval.

About the Job – Your Role

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of sentence calculations within the Department of Corrections by conducting quality control reviews and interpreting administrative rules, policies, and procedures.

You will be identifying errors or inconsistencies in sentence calculations, provide technical assistance and training to PTAs, DOC staff, and external partners, and offer clear guidance on policies and procedures.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal teams and administrative staff, to enhance sentence calculation processes and ensure compliance with current regulations. Additionally, you will monitor policy effectiveness, recommend updates to improve procedures, and develop training materials to support accurate and consistent application of rules. You will be staying up to date with changes in laws and policies and ensuring proper implementation and serving as a subject matter expert on sentence calculation-related inquiries.

This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills;

OR

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three (3) years technical-level experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

Requested Skills

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data for accuracy and compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of administrative rules, policies, and procedures related to sentence calculations.
• Experience conducting quality control reviews and identifying discrepancies in data.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and training to diverse audiences.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external partners.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them accurately.

Preferred Skills:

• At least two (2) years prior experience as a Prison Term Analyst
• Possess a Law Enforcement Database System (LEDS) Certification
• Experience working with PTAs, OISC staff, or legal teams in a corrections environment.

Contact with AICs is likely and the possibility of exposure to material of a graphic nature and to dangerous situations (e.g. verbal or physical assault) does exist. The AICs have the potential for becoming angry, hostile, abusive, and aggressive, increasing the risk for employees of physical injury, death, and/or being taken hostage.  There is an inherent responsibility to provide assistance through recall and/or reassignment during unrest and other emergency situations occurring at the institution.

Coffee Creek Correctional Facility is tobacco free.  Uses of tobacco products are prohibited within the buildings or on the grounds. 

May include travel by state vehicle (employee may be required to provide own transportation in performance of duties which is compensated within state rates) to attend meetings and/or provide trainings.

Requirements for Employment

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
