As an Engineering Director of Audio Video Communications, you will help build a real-time communications system for 3D immersive spaces. As the engineering leader of this function, you will work cross-functionally with partner teams to craft the next generator of audio and video systems for Roblox. Success in this role will be determined by the candidate’s ability to successfully craft a strategy for Roblox’s video strategy for first party and 3rd party videos, and scale our real-time communication systems for millions of users globally.

You will

Shape and grow a high-performance engineering team with some of the highest-scale production responsibilities
Hire, mentor, and develop senior engineers, managers, and leaders
Create a culture and practice of setting the standard as well as delivering world-class engineering systems and products
Partner closely with all functions in the company to develop innovative solution that create a cohesive and powerful marketplace
Be responsible for our advertising systems and platform which millions of creators and brands around the world will use daily
Own the integration with select partners and be accountable for driving ad demand and supply

You have

A proven track record of highly technical delivery in high scalability environments
Deep knowledge about real-time communications and the technology which powers it
12+ years in an engineering management role
6+ years in a Senior leadership role (org size 50+)
Expertise in video streaming architectures, content delivery networks (CDNs), and adaptive bitrate streaming is a strong plus
Deep expertise in WebRTC including the design, deployment, and scaling of WebRTC-based solutions for real-time audio/video communication is a bonus
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$383,910—$440,190 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
