Requirements
  • A first experience in food-service occupations is advantageous but not required.
  • Preferred diplomas include CAP/BEP in baking or pastry for the bakery, CAP/BEP in butchery for the meat department, and CAP/BEP in restaurant or brasserie-café service for prepared foods and the food court.
  • No specific habilitation is required; specific training may be provided to candidates without experience.
  • The role requires rigor, attentiveness, methodical work, and customer-contact skills.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare food for sale or consumption while following Costco recipes, procedures, quality standards, hygiene rules, safety procedures, cleanliness requirements, temperature controls, and expiration-date controls.
  • Provide a warm and courteous welcome and a high level of service to members.
  • Inspect and assemble equipment, stock displays, rotate products, maintain inventory, and assist other warehouse departments as needed.
  • Cut and prepare raw meat using appropriate tools, receive and rotate meat in cold storage, operate meat-processing equipment when necessary, package products, stock displays, and present seafood products.
  • Prepare and bake large quantities of bakery products, operate dough, muffin-dosing, industrial mixing, and pie-press machines, shape dough, transfer products to proofing rooms, and control baking.
  • Assemble, ice, fill, and decorate cakes; create borders, illustrations, and personalized messages according to Costco recipes, models, and procedures.
  • Read special cake orders and contact members by telephone when additional details are needed.
  • Cut fresh fruit, assemble cartons and other packaging, and transfer products to the appropriate storage or packing areas.
  • Cut vegetables and other ingredients; prepare trays, meals, pizzas, salads, sauces, and prepared dishes; shape and assemble products; and cook them using suitable ovens or rotisseries.
  • Record temperatures and damaged or marked-down products.
  • Prepare and sell food and beverages, prepare hot meals and pizzas, operate ovens and fryers, and place cooked products in warming equipment.
  • Record sales, receive payments, provide change, take complete-pizza orders at the counter or by telephone, prepare orders, and present them to members.
  • Distribute desserts and beverages, clean and refill dispensing machines, and stock ingredients in shelves, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Maintain beverage counters, condiment and toppings bars, dining areas, tables, floors, and waste-disposal areas through cleaning and disinfection.
  • Follow department standards and procedures for food production and cash management.
