Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, plus at least 4 years of subsequent laboratory experience, including 2 years in a progressively responsible role such as lead or supervisor and at least 1 year of workflow coordination experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, or biological sciences, with education and training meeting CFR 493.1489, plus six months of supervised relevant training or experience and at least 4 years of subsequent laboratory experience, including 2 years in a progressively responsible role such as lead or supervisor and at least 1 year of workflow coordination experience.
  • A Master's Degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, or biological sciences, with education and training meeting CFR 493.1489, plus six months of supervised relevant training or experience and at least 2 years of subsequent laboratory experience, including 2 years in a progressively responsible role such as lead or supervisor and at least 1 year of workflow coordination experience.
  • MT, MLS ASCP or equivalent certification is required.
  • High Complexity Testing requirements under CLIA are required.
  • Appropriate state licensure or certificate, where applicable, is required.
  • High Complexity Testing competencies under SOPs, CLIA, and applicable regulatory and accrediting bodies are required.
  • Advanced clinical laboratory knowledge and competency are required to provide testing quality control, training, and guidance to newer staff.
  • Proficiency with complex equipment and reagent maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is required, including advanced proficiency with all equipment at the assigned location.
  • Understanding and experience with proficiency survey sample testing are required.
  • Proficiency in equipment calibration and qualification for all equipment at the assigned location is required.
  • Advanced clinical laboratory competency expertise meeting regulatory and SOP requirements is required to conduct staff competency assessments and training.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is required.

  • The role requires working in a laboratory environment with exposure to biological fluids, potentially infectious organisms, extreme cold, production chemicals, moving machinery, production equipment, and high noise levels; required personal protective equipment includes protective eyewear, garments, and gloves.
  • The role requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The role requires sitting, standing, handling, finger dexterity, pinching, lifting up to 40 pounds, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, reaching, grasping, and carrying or moving items up to 40 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate testing of biological specimens and review test results and quality assessment data.
  • Provide skilled technical oversight in the laboratory and serve as a resource to departments outside the primary area of responsibility.
  • Work with team members to ensure timely and quality test results.
  • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel and resolve personnel issues.
  • Lead and develop staff and supervise workflow.
  • Supervise survey and proficiency testing and ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct competency assessments, complete documentation, take corrective action, and provide and document routine and non-routine staff training.
  • Perform routine testing of biological samples and ensure reagent preparation, pre-qualification, quality assurance, accurate records, documentation maintenance, confidentiality, and timely release of test results.
  • Perform duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations and bring compliance issues to management's attention.
  • Liaise with vendors and clients and provide direct customer service, communicating with customers, vendors, and couriers to ensure quality service.
  • Recommend revisions to policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Perform and ensure preventive maintenance, quality assurance, and equipment calibrations.
  • Identify and repair complex equipment malfunctions, troubleshoot issues, and notify appropriate personnel when additional service is needed.
  • Maintain an adequate level of supplies and reagents.
  • Ensure cleanliness of equipment and work areas and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Investigate deviations in testing, quality control, and preventive maintenance; take corrective action and escalate to management as necessary.
  • Supervise and perform evaluations of reagents, equipment, and new testing methods.
  • Participate on process improvement teams.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality according to the absence policy.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
