Requirements
- Five years of construction safety experience.
- Five years of Federal Government contracting experience with the Department of Defense, United States Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, or another federal agency is required.
- At least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past five years.
- An active 30-Hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration certification is required.
- Active cardiopulmonary resuscitation and First Aid certifications are required.
- Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Trained Supervisor, and/or Construction Health and Safety Technician certifications are required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of day-to-day safety field operations for assigned projects.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, and United States Army Corps of Engineers construction requirements, including EM 385-1-1 and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
- Ability to organize tasks and work efficiently without direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Manage the safety orientation program and provide ongoing job-specific safety training.
- Coordinate and conduct safety meetings, including materials, agendas, minutes, and attendance.
- Facilitate the return-to-work program with employees, medical professionals, and project personnel.
- Serve as liaison for workers’ compensation reporting, case management, and recordkeeping.
- Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log.
- Conduct investigations and complete required reports.
- Maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration Form 300 and Daily Production reports for prime contractors and subcontractors.
- Complete Contractor Self-Evaluation Checklists and Monthly Exposure Reports.
- Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
- Attend required meetings.
- Develop, implement, and enforce accepted Accident Prevention Plans and Activity Hazard Analyses.
- Ensure personnel and subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
- Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material safety data sheets.
Desired Qualifications
- An active EM 385-1-1 certification is highly preferred.
