Nexus Laboratories builds a planetary-scale, cryptographically verifiable supercomputer powered by a Layer 1 blockchain and the Nexus zkVM, a zero-knowledge virtual machine. Computations run inside the Nexus VM and produce cryptographic proofs of correctness via the Nexus Proof System, which are anchored on the blockchain. The zkVM is modular, open-source, written in Rust, and highly parallelized to handle large workloads while preserving data privacy where needed. The goal is a Verifiable Internet where actions like AI tasks and identity checks can be proven trustworthy without exposing underlying data.

  • Nexus raised $25M Series A in June 2024 from Lightspeed and Pantera Capital.
  • Nexus partners with Vishwa and PlaysOut to expand AI economy and onchain games.

What critics are saying

  • Risc Zero's zkVM proves 18x faster, eroding Nexus developer adoption by Q1 2026.
  • Succinct Labs' SP1 zkVM with $55M funding dominates Rust proofs in 12 months.
  • Celestia integrates Risc Zero zkVMs, bypassing Nexus L1 by April 2026.

What makes Nexus unique

  • Nexus builds Layer 1 blockchain as planetary-scale verifiable supercomputer using zkVM.
  • Nexus zkVM proves any computation with modular, Rust-based, parallelized design.
