Aderant integrates iTimekeep with Harvey AI to automate legal billing time entries

Aderant has launched an integration between its iTimekeep time-tracking system and Harvey, an AI-powered operating system for legal services. The integration, announced in December 2025 and now generally available, automatically converts legal work performed in Harvey into draft time entries in iTimekeep. The system captures work such as drafting, research, and analysis, then generates draft entries with matter context, duration, and AI-created narratives. Lawyers can review and edit these drafts before submission, following their firm's approval process. The integration aims to reduce administrative burden for lawyers whilst maintaining existing billing controls. Harvey is used by over 2,400 customers across 70 countries and is backed by investors including Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, and Andreessen Horowitz. Aderant operates as a business unit of Roper Technologies.

Aderant's CEO Chris Cartrett takes new role outside of legal.

Aderant's CEO Chris Cartrett takes new role outside of legal. * July 14, 2026 Legal Technology asked Chris Cartrett and Josiah Chaves about the new opportunity and implications for existing customers. Aderant's president & chief executive officer Chris Cartrett is to step down in August to take on the role of CEO at ImageTrend, which provides software and data analytics solutions for emergency medical services, fire departments, hospitals, and public safety agencies. Deane Price, who was CEO from 2017 to 2021, will rejoin Aderant as interim CEO beginning July 20th while a formal search is being conducted for Cartrett's replacement. It opens up the most senior role at one of the most widely used technology providers in the sector. Aderant's broader leadership team remains unchanged, with the exception of its CTO, with Andy Hoyt having departed in June. Since joining Aderant in 2014, Cartrett has served in several executive leadership roles, including senior vice president of strategy & growth; executive vice president; and president & CEO since 2021. Aderant is owned by listed company Roper Technologies, which in an earnings call in April this year noted that it has been an "amazing few years" from Aderant. Roper's CEO and president Neil Hunn said: "Aderant delivered a record quarter, strong revenue growth and a new Q1 bookings record. Strength was broad-based with particularly strong SaaS momentum on Sierra, Onyx and viGlobal. Aderant also launched AI-driven talent evaluation within viGlobal, continued the rollout of a Stridyn AI platform and completed a record number of Sierra Cloud migrations in the quarter." Cartrett said: "It has been the privilege of my career to serve as president and CEO of Aderant. I am incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished and am grateful for the relationships we've built with our clients and partners. The opportunity to lead Aderant has been an honor, and I leave knowing the company is stronger than ever. We've combined exceptional new talent with the deep experience and institutional knowledge that has always defined Aderant. Having worked alongside leaders like Josiah Chaves and Aisling Fenelon for more than a decade - and watching them grow into the leaders they are today - gives me tremendous confidence in the future of this company. They, along with the broader executive team, are exceptionally well positioned to lead Aderant into its next chapter." Legal Technology asked Cartrett and Chaves about the new opportunity and implications for existing customers. Congratulations on the new role Chris! What made you decide to leave Legal Technology in legal? This is just a unique opportunity for myself in a space that really interest me. ImageTrend is a leader in the emergency response market helping EMS, fire and hospitals make better, faster decisions to improve care. I have been at Aderant for 12 years, and in the legal space for off and on nearly 30. Aderant is killing it and the team is stronger than ever. I know the momentum at Aderant will only continue to grow. This just feels like the right time for me to move into my next chapter. How come you're not finding a replacement before leaving? Aderant is a very special place. Roper and the leadership team at Aderant are being incredibly purposeful in their search. The culture at Aderant is unique. The next CEO will have to fit into the dynamic culture. Deane Price returning as interim will be a seamless transition to ensure continuity with clients and its team. The vision and strategy are sound and the team is executing. No need to rush anything. Is there a replacement for Andy yet? Not yet, but that is not really a concern. As I have mentioned on many occasions, Legal Technology has a very talented development team with strong leaders in place. Aderant is a truly AI-native organization, not just within its products, but also in how Legal Technology operate internally. The next CTO must be on par with how the team is currently performing and raise the bar even higher. There are very few people who have that skill set, so once again, the leadership team is being purposeful in their search. Finding the right CTO is more important than finding any CTO. I'm wondering if this will be unsettling for customers - Josiah, what do you think? Actually, clients have been very supportive of Chris's decision. Legal Technology just had another record quarter, and I have spoken with a great many of its clients about his transition. They are confident in its vision and have realized the value of what Legal Technology has delivered to date. Legal Technology is excited about where Aderant continues to grow. Aderant has always had a client-centric culture, and Legal Technology remain committed to delivering for all of them. Legal Technology wish Chris the absolute best in his new role!

Mike Corkery, Senior Vice President, Group Executive at Roper Technologies, added, "I want to thank Chris for his exceptional leadership at Aderant over the past 12 years. Under his guidance, the company has become the clear leader in delivering solutions to help law firms run better. On behalf of the Roper team, we are deeply grateful for his contributions and wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.
