Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years U.S. trademark prosecution experience
  • Leadership experience with coaching and developing teams
  • An exhibited ability to promote engagement and satisfaction among a group of professional employees
  • Enthusiasm for practicing trademark law in an extremely fast-paced, non-traditional environment
  • The competence and confidence to tell clients what you would do if you were the client
  • Superb oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-attorneys on a regular basis over the phone and online
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritize workflow and adjust to workload fluctuations
  • Excellent organizational skills to balance multiple priorities, deadlines and critical assignments that may require short-notice deliverables
  • A J.D. from an accredited law school or its equivalent and a license to practice law in good standing with at least one state bar
Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of attorneys supporting the Attorney Led Trademark offering and related services
  • Provide regular coaching and development that cater to the strengths and opportunities of the team member
  • Onboard and train new hires to make sure they understand their roles
  • Track, report on, and ensure sufficient productivity
  • Provide quality and compliance oversight
  • Train and guide attorneys on substantive trademark law, legal writing and consultation practices
  • Work with firm leadership and other managing attorneys to deploy new roles across the trademark attorney group
  • Coordinate with Post Filing Managing Attorney for distribution of Staff Attorney work product among the firm's senior Trademark Attorney groups
  • Build and maintain close working relationship with firm's fulfillment group to coordinate end-to-end trademark process
  • Facilitate professional development for attorneys catered to popular trademark topics
  • Review and approve filings, arguments, and third party matters
  • Render opinions and advise clients on their proposed marks
  • Assist in development of trademark offerings aimed at small businesses
  • Serve as the last line of defense on escalations and complex matters
  • Other related duties as reasonably required; and
  • Increase access to the law by helping small businesses register and protect trademarks
