What is this role?

As a Internal Controls (SOX) Manager at Cirkulwill be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the development, formalizing and testing of our internal controls program. This is a full time in office role.

What does an average day look like?

• Driving Results:
  • Create risk and control matrices, flowcharts, narratives and walkthroughs of key business processes and controls
  • Draft a listing of key controls with standardized elements and documentation where applicable
  • Execute tests of controls and coordinate remediation 
  • Continuously monitor and analyze changes the Company’s business as well as external developments and changes in guidance that may impact the Company’s risks and control
• Taking Ownership: Develop aggressive but achievable project plans for the internal control program assessment, design, testing and communication
• Making Decisions:
  • Leverage experience with execution of internal controls over financial reporting design and execution to effectively conduct research and share best practices
  • Translate core goals and project objectives into activities, escalating as necessary but with minimal supervision to deliver high quality work product 
  • Develop standardized structures and tools for process flows, risks, control language, testing and other documentation
• Cultivating Relationships: Comfortably and effectively communicate with a wide range of business partners as well as across levels, including senior leadership
• Instilling Trust:
  
  • Quickly build an understanding of the Company’s business, key processes and systems 
  • Work with accounting and other business partners to build and understanding of processes and controls over all key business areas, IT system and data processes impacting the financial statements 
• Customer Focus: Provide expectations of information needs and deadlines to those supporting your duties while understanding and being respectful of competing priorities

What background should you have?

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA recommended but not required
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in internal, in a public company and/or public accounting firm
• Ideal candidate would have public accounting experience auditing internal controls of SEC registrant(s) and experience at a public company’s SOX-internal controls team
• Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements and multiple years spent developing and/or updating internal control documentation and testing
• Experience with Workiva’s wDesk or other internal control documentation software
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Highly independent
• Ability to manage and develop a team of professionals in the future
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong Excel required 
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
