Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree with 15 or more years of progressive experience working with the homeless population, 10 or more years of experience supervising social service or human services staff in shelter, transitional housing, or permanent supportive housing, and experience working with the New York City Department of Homeless Services or another similar city-operated organization.
  • Strong leadership and effective management skills.
  • Ability to implement and monitor policies and procedures in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing substance abuse treatment programs.
  • Good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor the shelter environment to ensure behavioral guidelines are followed, a therapeutic milieu is maintained, and interpersonal relationships remain positive.
  • Coordinate and implement clinical services for the multidisciplinary case management team.
  • Help implement and monitor policies, procedures, and systems necessary for effective and efficient delivery of program services.
  • Provide regularly scheduled clinical and administrative supervision to assigned staff.
  • Document supervisory sessions with staff, complete appraisals, and administer discipline as required.
  • Make recommendations on hiring and terminating staff.
  • Identify staff training needs and plan, develop, and/or conduct training to maintain and improve clinical staff competency and compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staff maintain accurate, complete, and timely client treatment records that comply with regulatory requirements and agency policies and procedures.
