Requirements
  • An Associate’s Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Proven experience in an emergency room, critical care, or public health setting is required.
  • Proven experience handling multiple duties and completing assigned tasks accurately and on time is required, including the ability to work independently, schedule and initiate reviews, and work with associates, providers, and benefits staff.
  • Proven working knowledge of workers’ compensation, ergonomics, and principles of preventive health care is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the state article governing the public health, safety, and welfare through regulation and control of registered professional nursing education and practice is required.
  • Proven strong knowledge of medical technology, health care resources, and contemporary trends in the health care delivery system is required.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills are required to interpret and communicate with administration, health care providers, and members clearly, accurately, and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to document procedures and activities in an understandable manner using prescribed formats and proper punctuation, grammar, diction, and style is required.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organization skills are required, including the ability to manage and prioritize workload demands.
  • Proven presentation skills are required, including experience conveying information clearly and using listening, communication, and presentation software techniques.
  • Complete discretion in handling confidential and sensitive materials is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Registered Nurse state licensure and/or compact-state licensure to practice as a registered nurse in Ohio is required upon hire.
  • The role requires verbal communication and exchange of accurate information with customers and associates.
  • The role requires visual acuity to read and interpret correspondence, procedures, reports, forms, and electronic documents; inspect small defects and parts; operate machinery; and use measurement devices.
  • The role requires preparation of written correspondence, reports, and forms using prescribed formats and proper punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
  • The role requires applying logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • The role requires substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver nursing services in compliance with federal and state regulations and Corporate Health Service policies.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, perform initial assessments, and treat or refer associates in accordance with clinical guidelines, protocols, and licensure.
  • Assist associates in determining when outside medical assistance is needed and address their physical and emotional needs.
  • Plan, evaluate, and implement cost-effective health promotion and education programs for associates.
  • Develop nursing care plans based on identified needs and problems and assist with primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies.
  • Identify and source qualified medical professionals to deliver health education sessions; coordinate scheduling, topics, and learning objectives; collect feedback; and measure initiative effectiveness.
  • Assist with development and administration of the annual budget, including equipment and supplies, and order required supplies and equipment.
  • Contribute to the design of health controls and surveillance for actual and potential workplace hazards.
  • Provide occupational health surveillance testing as needed and coordinate on-site automated external defibrillator and cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
  • Conduct workplace evaluations and ergonomics assessments.
  • Keep all licenses necessary to operate the facility up to date.
  • Establish and promote working relationships with community agencies and corporations with occupational health nurses.
  • Maintain confidential medical records in accordance with federal and state regulations and prepare reports and statistics for management.
  • Advise management on compliance with federal and state regulations, other regulatory agencies, and corporate guidelines.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development and continuing education to support competency and performance aligned with occupational health nursing standards.
  • Remain current on industry advancements, best practices, and regulatory updates in occupational health.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, concerning privacy, security, confidentiality, protected health information, and personally identifiable information.
  • Perform other assigned duties and comply with all policies and standards.
  • Work extended hours during peak workloads or special projects and events, with occasional after-hours work.

  • Demonstrated experience as an occupational health nurse with thorough knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements for enacting, administering, and enforcing workplace health and safety standards.
