LOCATION:Apply Digital is hybrid/remote friendly. The preferred candidate should either be based in Canada or in the United States, and working in hours that align to ET (Eastern Timezone).
This role does require monthly travel to New York City.
THE ROLE:
Apply Digital is actively seeking a Technology Director to join our diverse Technology team. The ideal candidate will empathize with the technical challenges our clients face, and collaborate with them and our internal teams to create innovative experiences and identify technological solutions that meet their needs.
In this role, you will provide strategic guidance as a primary client-facing member of the Technology and Account Leadership Team on an account. This will involve offering valuable insights, formulating robust points of view, and making informed recommendations about technology stacks and future strategies, all aimed at driving transformative change within client organizations. You’ll also identify and oversee organic business growth across your account. Your leadership will enable diverse teams to successfully implement Apply Digital’s delivery methodologies, firmly rooted in Agile principles and MACH architecture.
The Technology Director is a versatile technologist with a broad understanding of technologies across the stack in a myriad of applications.. This knowledge assists in defining and approving effective solutions and facilitating communication and collaboration amongst the team. The Technology Director fosters a calm, positive, supportive, and solution-oriented atmosphere within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Client & Business Management: Provide expert advice and nurture relationships with stakeholders within client organizations. Identify and nurture growth opportunities within projects, delivering business value for both the client and our organization.
- Thought Leadership: Position our consultancy as a leader in delivering transformative technical solutions. This includes thought leadership and client education on technical trends, customer experience enhancements, and back-of-house optimizations.
- Technical Leadership & Delivery Oversight: Oversee and guide the work of software engineers and technical team members, ensuring punctual and high-quality delivery. Define and manage the high-level platform architecture and technology stack with a specific eye for scalable solutions.
- Mentorship & Team Collaboration: Develop expertise within the team in delivering cutting-edge solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives with business goals. Manage and scale multiple delivery squads/pods, ensuring that deadlines are met and dependencies are properly managed.
- Risk Management & Process Improvement: Identify, prevent, and mitigate risks that might impact the success of the engagement. Escalate and provide solutions for issues and risks to executive leadership when needed.
Requirements:
- Proven track record of technology leadership role in platform scale software development.
- Experience in leading a distributed team across time-zones and regions.
- Strong experience in system design and technical architecture for platform solutions.
- Comprehensive understanding of web and mobile software engineering, systems design, and project management.
- Demonstrated experience in advising and supporting clients as they undergo digital transformation, providing innovative vision while nurturing a strong client relationship along the way.
- Sound stakeholder management abilities; able to build trust and align stakeholders across teams, levels and technical ability.
- Keen strategic insight at the executive level, ensuring technical solutions align with business goals.
- Experience in identifying and managing a wide array of risks, including technical, staffing, scoping, and client relationship risks.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to foster trust and build a collaborative relationship with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Proven ability to mentor team members and foster a high-performance culture in large multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to continuously improve delivery velocity by actively embracing automation and process optimization.
- Familiarity with identity platforms (IdP) and enterprise level software operations.
