Requirements
  • One to two years of prior customer service experience is required.
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements and meet the Association’s background-screening policies.
  • Complete required Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
  • Possess excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behavior.
  • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Complete required CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Complete the YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Neglect class.
  • Complete the YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens training.
  • Follow staff safety requirements and cleaning protocols.
  • Adhere to the drug-, alcohol-, and smoke-free workplace policy.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and serve members and guests, including meeting members and visitors by name in a positive and professional manner.
  • Enforce visitor policies and ensure facility security.
  • Provide membership and program information to walk-in and telephone customers.
  • Maintain current knowledge of program information.
  • Conduct facility tours as needed.
  • Answer telephones promptly and courteously using the phone system.
  • Record and route phone messages to the correct individual or voicemail.
  • Process member sign-ups and program registrations accurately and efficiently.
  • Enter receipt information correctly for memberships and programs.
  • Remain accountable for money collected during the assigned shift.
  • Prepare end-of-shift deposits and reports.
  • Perform facility access-control duties by checking member cards, issuing locker keys, and entering visitors into the visitor computer program.
  • Serve as a liaison between members and program supervisors.
  • Handle and resolve member complaints.
  • Prepare coffee and keep the member lounge tidy.
  • Open and close the facility as appropriate for the assigned shift.
  • Uphold staff safety requirements and cleaning protocols throughout the day.
  • Complete additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
