Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in India.

Responsibilities
  • Provide broad legal counsel and general legal mentorship in India and at the operational team level for Innovative Medicine’s India operations.
  • Provide strategic and operational legal advice and counsel across all areas of law while protecting the company’s rights, interests, and reputation.
  • Negotiate and draft supply, distribution, wholesaler, co-marketing, co-promotion, sales, product licensing, clinical trial, post-marketing survey, investigator-initiated study, donation, speaker engagement, employment, and nondisclosure agreements.
  • Assess legal and governance risks and work with stakeholders to devise and implement policies and procedures, including preventive actions, training, and communications.
  • Coordinate with the global Intellectual Property team on trademark and patent matters involving products commercialized or proposed for commercialization in India and South Asia.
  • Assist the business with contractual, legal, and labor-related matters.
  • Manage litigation initiated by and against the company and coordinate with external litigation counsel and law firms.
  • Advise Marketing and Medical functions on product labeling, marketing, and ethical promotion.
  • Monitor the Indian legal environment and provide leadership with updates on relevant legal and regulatory changes.
  • Support acquisitions and licensing transactions through due diligence, negotiation, and drafting and execution of transaction documents.
  • Participate in business discussions and decisions and provide legal counsel, strategic mentorship, and support to the India business.
  • Advise on and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, industry codes, and company policies applicable to Innovative Medicine’s India operations.
  • Lead innovative initiatives, connect stakeholders, craft strategies, and deliver outcomes.
  • Collaborate with business partners and Health Care Compliance to reinforce Credo-based decision-making.
  • Manage litigation across judicial forums in India and South Asia and support internal and external investigations.
  • Provide legal input and mentorship on company policies and procedures, including the Code of Business Conduct, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Health Care Compliance, and the Health Care Business Integrity Guide.
  • Advise management on new policies or changes to existing policies, create training for management and employees, and participate in disciplinary panels.
  • Provide legal counsel and risk-management support to Human Resources, Operations, Quality, Government Affairs, Research and Development, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Finance.
  • Work on Law Department projects as needed.
  • Partner with other company lawyers in India to align local, cluster, regional, and global legal services.
  • Assist with brand protection, trademark support, and counterfeit and grey-market enforcement activities.
  • Advise on copy-clearance materials and internet-related activities.
  • Provide risk-tolerant, compliant legal solutions for innovative business proposals.
  • Deliver work to required timelines despite time constraints.
