Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience interacting with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Candidates must have communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Candidates must be able to read, analyze, and interpret insurance forms.
  • Candidates must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Candidates must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Candidates must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Associates must comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and applicable protected health information privacy policies and procedures.
  • Candidates must receive a favorable background-check result as required by the state.
  • Candidates must provide proof of identity and the right to work in the United States.
  • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • The role requires frequent walking, sitting, and standing; regular bending, stooping, and reaching; and the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 pounds.
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of the hands are required for grasping, writing or typing, and using technology.
  • Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver the Total Patient Experience while building relationships with patients and providing medical support.
  • Determine patients’ wants and needs and sell products and services to exceed their expectations.
  • Assist patients in selecting frames based on style, color, facial and eye measurements, and optical prescriptions.
  • Operate the automatic and manual lensometers.
  • Educate patients and recommend lenses, lens coatings, and frames suited to their needs.
  • Accurately collect bridge, eye size, temple length, segment height, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt measurements.
  • Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust patient frames.
  • Dispense glasses and contact lens orders in E360.
  • Follow all job aids and policies.
  • Maintain frame standards by cleaning and organizing fully stocked, well-presented areas.
  • Follow protocols to keep frame inventory accurate.
  • Perform general office duties and cleaning assigned by the manager.
  • Assist with other duties in the office as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous medical office experience is preferred.
  • Previous ophthalmic experience is strongly preferred.
  • Current ABO/ABOC and NCLE certifications are preferred, but may be obtained within the first 2 years of employment.
  • Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.
