Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program highly preferred or equivalent experience as a Scrub Tech is acceptable in lieu of certification/education.
  • Knowledgeable of various surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Sterile conscious required.
  • Current BLS required.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
  • Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist the physicians with procedures in the operating room and endoscopy suite.
  • Provide correct instrumentation and supplies during the procedure.
  • Utilize aseptic technique and ensure a safe environment for the patient.
  • Follow hospital policies and procedures.
  • Utilize time management skills to facilitate the schedule.
  • Routinely attends departmental meetings and hospital forums.
  • Routinely participates in department projects to continuously improve the department and/or organization.
  • Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
  • Completion of mandatory department and hospital education.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
