Requirements
  • Current West Virginia Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification OR Current unencumbered licensure with the West Virginia Board of Practical Nursing, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a practical nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • High school diploma/ GED.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with department leadership and command center staff using indicators to prioritize discharge and throughput needs.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise by serving as a resource and role model for transport needs and education
  • Provides input and assists manager/director in annual review of unit Scope of Service, and performance improvement initiatives in conjunction with other departmental work teams.
  • Provide constructive and timely feedback on employee performance and management.
  • Serves as a change agent in effecting appropriate changes within the health care delivery system as it relates to evidence based practice.
  • Promotes prehospital providers as valuable assets to the hospital.
  • Serves as a liaison by establishing and maintaining open lines of communications with nursing, between other hospital departments, the consumer and the community.
  • Participates in meeting the Goals and Objectives of Nursing Service Division and ensures the department contributes to the attainment of the Hospital’s Goals and Objectives
  • Meets with patients and families when questions arise specific to transportation issues.
  • May be required to assess patients for appropriate size and type of transportation.
  • Keeps accurate records regarding transportation from the hospital and reports to team.
  • Escalates, in a timely manner, any barriers or issues with transportation to the appropriate Command Center Staff for resolution.
  • Extensive knowledge of regional geography, traffic patterns, transport routes and time effects.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two (2) years as a call dispatcher
  • Two (2) years as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Two (2) years as an LPN.
