Requirements
  • The candidate must have at least 3 years of experience, including work requiring independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard engineering techniques.
  • A master's degree may substitute for 1 year of experience.
  • The candidate must have a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a relevant field.
  • The candidate must hold a valid Engineer-in-Training Certification and be progressing toward Professional Engineer licensure.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare design calculations, design drawings, and specifications necessary for economical methods of construction.
  • Perform analyses with guidance from senior engineers and prepare clear, concise reports of results and conclusions.
  • Coordinate with and provide task-level guidance to technicians and junior staff on assigned tasks, and review and evaluate their results.
  • Maintain and utilize working knowledge of accepted engineering design standards and practices to execute design work that meets client needs and firm standards.
  • Coordinate the work of drafting personnel, technicians, and other engineers on technical matters pertinent to project assignments.
  • Work toward keeping current tasks within schedule and budget to fit project needs.
  • Assist in providing input and coordination with other departments.
  • Provide data for cost estimating and secure preliminary equipment costs for review.
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements and support innovation that benefits the firm and its clients.
  • Keep project teams informed about project status, progress, next steps, and coordination requirements.
  • Support Project Managers or serve as task lead on small projects that primarily require work within the group and may also require coordination with other groups and the client.
  • Manage individual tasks and priorities while beginning to provide guidance and support to junior staff or technicians under the direction of senior engineers.
