Transmission and Utilities Engineer

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Water/Wastewater Transmission & Utilities Engineer in Training to join our Charlotte, NC office.

• Prepare design calculations, design drawings, and specifications necessary for most economical methods of construction.

• Perform analyses with guidance from senior engineersand prepare reports of results and conclusions in a clear, concise manner. Coordinate with andprovidetask-level guidance to technicians and junior staffon assigned tasks and review and evaluate their results.

• Maintain andutilizeworking knowledge of accepted engineering design standards and practice in the execution of design work that will meet the client’s needs and conform to firm standards.

• Coordinate the work of draftingpersonnel;technicians;or other engineers on technical matters pertinent to project assignments.

• Work toward keeping current tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the project.

• Assistin providing input and coordination with other departments.

• Provide data, asrequired, for cost estimating, and secure preliminary equipment costs for reviews.

• Contribute ideas for process improvements and support innovationthat willbenefitthe firm and its clients.

• Keep project teams informed on project status, and communicate effectively on progress, next steps, and coordination requirements.

• Support Project Managers or serve as task lead on small projectsthat primarily require work withinowngroup but may also require coordination with other groups and the client.

• Demonstratesstrong self-leadership by effectively managing individual tasks and priorities, while beginning to provide guidance and support to junior staff or technicians on assigned work under the direction of senior engineers.
