Freese and Nichols is seeking a Water/Wastewater Transmission & Utilities Engineer in Training to join our Charlotte, NC office.
Prepare design calculations, design drawings, and specifications necessary for most economical methods of construction.
Perform analyses with guidance from senior engineersand prepare reports of results and conclusions in a clear, concise manner. Coordinate with andprovidetask-level guidance to technicians and junior staffon assigned tasks and review and evaluate their results.
Maintain andutilizeworking knowledge of accepted engineering design standards and practice in the execution of design work that will meet the client’s needs and conform to firm standards.
Coordinate the work of draftingpersonnel;technicians;or other engineers on technical matters pertinent to project assignments.
Work toward keeping current tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the project.
Assistin providing input and coordination with other departments.
Provide data, asrequired, for cost estimating, and secure preliminary equipment costs for reviews.
Contribute ideas for process improvements and support innovationthat willbenefitthe firm and its clients.
Keep project teams informed on project status, and communicate effectively on progress, next steps, and coordination requirements.
Support Project Managers or serve as task lead on small projectsthat primarily require work withinowngroup but may also require coordination with other groups and the client.
Demonstratesstrong self-leadership by effectively managing individual tasks and priorities, while beginning to provide guidance and support to junior staff or technicians on assigned work under the direction of senior engineers.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience including work requiring independent evaluation,selection, and application of standard engineering techniques.
Master’sdegree may substitute for 1 year of experience.
B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or relevant fieldrequired.
Valid EIT Certification progressing toward PE licensure
Some familiarity with Civil3D is preferred.
