Requirements
  • High school completion or GED.
  • Union journeyman training, equivalent training, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience with automated and traditional manual welding equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to perform stick, metal inert gas, and tungsten inert gas welding, including vertical and overhead welding.
  • Knowledge of WSI proprietary Hot-Pulse Automatic Weld Systems and process, custom WSI mechanized welding equipment, and WSI-specific welding procedures.
  • Ability to lift more than 75 pounds and work while standing, squatting, sitting, and kneeling.
  • Ability to weld from various positions.
  • Ability to work in an industrial field environment.
Responsibilities
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Perform maintenance piping and welding tasks on mobile and stationary support and auxiliary equipment.
  • Set up and operate WSI proprietary automated and mechanized welding equipment in confined spaces.
  • Analyze field welding applications and apply appropriate WSI welding methods for field applications.
  • Determine the welding equipment, fit-up tools, materials, and weld procedures needed for specific WSI projects and tasks.
  • Weld pipe, attachments, and structural components for WSI field applications from all positions.
  • Design, lay out, fabricate, and analyze metal failures and required repairs.
  • Fabricate, fit, and weld material from blueprints and drawings.
  • Operate hand and power tools required for pipefitting and welding tasks.
  • Operate measuring tools and shop support equipment.
  • Follow instructions and direction with minimal supervision.
  • Understand and practice safety procedures for the work environment.
  • Travel for field assignments as required.
  • Train welders in the use of WSI proprietary welding equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
