Reports to Head of Markets - US

Following the Aztec Group’s expansion into the United States, we are now focused on accelerating our growth across North America and are seeking a high calibre individual to supplement our world class team and help us to continue winning mandates and build our brand profile.

The role will focus on fund managers across the private markets’ segment; developing and maintaining systematic coverage of the fund manager community and key business introducers across the sector. The successful applicant will work closely with internal stakeholders to engage with prospective clients and support proposal building processes. The Business Development Manager will also work to develop client facing material and marketing collateral to present to prospective clients.

The Business Development Manager will be required to generate new business leads, through direct engagement with fund managers. In addition, the Business Development Manager will be required to travel to meet prospective clients and intermediaries, attend relevant conferences and networking events and over time develop their own network.

As an ambassador for the Aztec Group’s brand, they are expected to support use of the brand correctly and work closely with the Marketing team to deliver improvements to business development tools.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop network of contacts and introducers
• Follow up new business opportunities and arrange introductory and follow up meetings
• Attend regular prospective client and key business influencer meetings and provide them with our presentation
• Plan and prepare proposals to close new business
• Build and contribute to a solid pipeline of new business
• Work closely with the Head of Markets, Marketing and global Client & Market Development team

Skills, knowledge and expertise:

• 5+ years’ experience working within the financial services industry
• Demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets
• Can do attitude, with a high achievement drive
• Collaborative and team based approach
• Self-sufficient, with strong activity levels
• Ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously
• Ability to put together proposal documents to a high standard (excellent IT skills)
• Confident and clear communication skills
• Additional language skills preferred but not essential
• Relationship and sales experience necessary, specific industry preferred but not essential

This role will be primarily based from our New York city office however will require travel to meet prospective clients across North America. We will provide the training, both in-house for relevant technical knowledge and professional qualifications to supplement your continuous professional development. You will need to be quick to learn new systems and work within a team of dynamic people, as close working relationships between our colleagues and clients are at the heart of what we do.
