Requirements
  • An appropriate PhD in a related field is required.
  • Expertise in cell culture, specifically cardiomyocytes or stem cells, and biomaterial characterization is required.
  • Proficiency in animal handling and/or surgical techniques is required.
  • Strong analytical skills for processing physiological and molecular data are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for high-impact publishing are required.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to laboratory safety are required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and optimization of cardiac patches and injectable biotherapeutics using advanced biomaterials and nanovesicle technologies.
  • Perform microsurgeries and longitudinal studies using small animal models of myocardial infarction or heart failure to evaluate therapeutic outcomes.
  • Use advanced imaging, including echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging, and histological techniques to analyze cardiac function and tissue remodeling.
  • Summarize results and draft manuscripts for publication in journals.
  • Assist in preparing technical progress reports for sponsors such as the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.
  • Ensure the worksite and specialized equipment, including three-dimensional bioprinters and surgical stations, are prepared, cleaned, and maintained according to safety standards.
  • Assist, mentor, and supervise PhD and PharmD students and undergraduate researchers working on cardiac repair projects.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure team compliance with laboratory protocols.
  • Prepare and deliver presentation materials for departmental seminars and national and international conferences.
  • Participate in preparing grant applications and technical reports.
  • Participate in relevant seminars, workshops, and training to enhance skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
