Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university. Up to four years of additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of four years of prior outside business-to-business sales experience, demonstrating a proven track record in solution-selling concepts and successfully managing customers within a defined sales territory.
  • Preferred experience in industrial sales and the industry itself. Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, as well as industrial gas/welding supply sales, is also preferred.
  • Ability to segment customers and prioritize those who deliver the highest value to Airgas.
  • Proven success using a consultative sales approach to provide multiple layers of value to customers, establishing a diverse mix of sales solutions and products.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage deep knowledge of customer businesses, current macro- and micro-economic trends, industry trends, and potential new business opportunities.
  • Proficiency in a collaborative office platform (such as Google Suite) and CRM (such as Salesforce).
  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus, and developing competency in SAP will be necessary.
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal communication, listening, and presentation skills are essential.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, and operates with a sense of urgency, with the ability to work and succeed independently.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Frequent regional travel and minimal overnight travel are required.
  • Reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and minimum liability insurance (as required by the state of vehicle registration) are necessary.
Responsibilities
  • Driving Specialty Gas sales within the assigned geography through identification of key growth markets and products.
  • Developing and executing strategies to capture identified growth opportunities.
  • Supporting account managers to increase Specialty Gas sales within their assigned portfolios.
  • Providing customers with essential engineering, technical support, training, safety, and service for all their Specialty Gas requirements.
  • Establishing a systematic process for continuous and accurate collection of market data, including customer needs, market trends, and competitor activities.
  • Explaining products and services features, matching customers’ needs with the appropriate products.
  • Always looking for ways to learn and grow skills. Keeps current with industry technical knowledge.
  • Providing training at branch level to enhance sales and growth.
  • Timely completion and submission of sales-related paperwork, such as call reports and month-end reports.
  • Promptly responding to emails and phone calls.
  • Maintaining solid working relationships with Account Managers, District Managers, Area Vice Presidents, and other Specialists in Region.
  • Daily maintenance of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tools to support business growth.
  • Undertaking special projects and other duties as necessary.

Teamsters File Nationwide Unfair Labor Practice Charges Against Airgas

Teamsters file nationwide unfair labor practice charges against Airgas. Airgas workers fight back against unlawful retaliation. (WASHINGTON) - The Teamsters have filed nationwide unfair labor practice charges against Airgas for violating numerous federal labor laws. This includes unlawful threats, lockouts, discharge, and retaliation against workers for exercising their legal rights and failing to provide notice and an opportunity to bargain. "Airgas has the resources to do the right thing, but instead they continue to abuse our members and break the law," said Juan Campos, Director of the Teamsters Tankhaul Division and International Vice President At-Large. "Management has attacked our members, harmed their families, and put their safety at risk. As Teamsters, we will always fight to protect our members' rights." Airgas Teamsters have been on strike since June 2 nationwide over unfair labor practices. The strikes began after Teamsters Local 701 in New Brunswick, N.J., was forced to the picket line. Teamsters Local 507 in Cleveland and Teamsters Local 283 in Ferndale, Michigan followed soon after. Once the strikes began, pickets were extended to 15 facilities in 11 states. Throughout and after these extensions, Airgas illegally retaliated against workers, unlawfully terminating and suspending members in Pennsylvania and California; locking out members in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Ohio, Rhode Island, New York, and Michigan; threatening members in Massachusetts, California, Rhode Island, Ohio, and New Jersey; and permanently replacing members in Ohio and New Jersey, for exercising their contractually-protected right to honor extended picket lines and to strike. "Management keeps shifting the goal posts and act like they're above the law," said Shawn Diaz, Airgas Teamster and shop steward with Local 701. "We want to return to work, but this company that rakes in billions annually refuses to offer a fair contract that we rightfully deserve." Airgas has a long history of safety, environmental, and labor law violations, with over $8 million in legal penalties from OSHA, EPA, and the NLRB. In 2016, a U.S. District Court in Florida ordered Airgas to pay $7 million for hazardous waste violations.
