Outpost runs a network of secure, managed parking yards for semi-trucks, acquiring and operating its own real estate to provide standardized facilities with features like fencing, lighting, cameras, and controlled gate access. Its platform lets fleet managers search, book, and manage parking, while drivers gain secure access; a brokerage arm also arranges parking at partner yards. The system uses proprietary hardware, IoT devices, and AI-powered computer vision to track truck and trailer inventory and verify vehicles at entry and exit. The goal is to create a scalable nationwide logistics infrastructure that improves asset utilization, expands geographic reach, and gives trucking operations easy access to secure parking.

Outpost launches second-gen gate automation platform cutting costs by 70% across 50 new US sites

Outpost, a US truck terminal owner and automation company, has launched its second-generation gate automation platform featuring a new kiosk, enhanced machine vision capabilities and improved operational tools. The technology now processes over 3 million gate events annually across Outpost's network and customer sites. The new kiosk can be installed in one day and reduces gate operating costs by up to 70%, replacing manual staffing that typically costs $25,000 or more per gate monthly. Key features include engine-cancelling microphones, integrated multilingual displays, reefer monitor recognition, multi-camera vehicle tracking and advanced seal verification. The platform serves major truckload operators, intermodal companies, cold chain warehousing providers and manufacturers. Outpost has signed contracts for nearly 50 new locations in the first four months of 2026.

Outpost adds 5 US truck terminals to build universal infrastructure for 75% of freight

Outpost, an Austin-based operator of over 30 truck terminals and drop yards across the US, is expanding with five new locations and investing in EV charging infrastructure. The company announced new terminals in Newark, New Jersey, Miami, Florida and three California cities: Stockton, Livermore and Torrance. Co-founder and CEO Trent Cameron says Outpost addresses a unique trucking industry problem: whilst rail, air and port freight have universal infrastructure, trucking—which moves 75% of US goods—relies on fragmented facilities. The company's vertically integrated model combines real estate, parking and terminal technology to provide shared terminals near major markets for fleets of any size. Outpost also announced an investment in EV Realty, which develops commercial fleet EV charging hubs, and currently serves all major autonomous truck operators.

Additional properties include a 7.1-acre Newark site near the Port Newark Container Terminal and a 17-acre Miami facility adjacent to Miami International Airport and PortMiami. The additions are part of Outpost's $1 billion deployment to expand its national network of truck terminals. The company now operates over 30 facilities across the United States.
