Requirements
  • At least 3 years of increasingly responsible management experience in the food processing industry, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
  • At least 3 years of sanitation department experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
  • At least 1 year of experience working an overnight shift.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, supervisors, or company employees.
  • Ability to work through the night.
  • Proven leadership in improving work processes and leading change in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage priorities and complexities with strong multitasking skills.
  • Ability to understand and improve performance, efficiency, and product yield.
  • Strong supervisory, interpersonal, training, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety regulations.
  • Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Food and Drug Administration, and United States Department of Agriculture requirements in a seafood manufacturing environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift 30–50 pounds and stand or walk for 6–8 hours during a workday of up to 10 hours.
  • Ability to perform grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Ability to work with FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and in wet, dry, freezing, and refrigerated conditions.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to use knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain an efficient, hygienic, and positive working environment.
  • Interview, hire, and train all new team members.
  • Conduct sanitation and safety training sessions as needed or required.
  • Ensure hourly employees are assessed and receive appropriate development plans and mentoring.
  • Provide leadership and resolve employee problems, complaints, and grievances.
  • Provide support and on-the-floor training to employees to achieve goals.
  • Schedule, manage, and track labor in real time through ADP.
  • Monitor and control labor and overtime expenses.
  • Drive an environment of teamwork and open communication.
  • Manage projects through completion and achieve assigned goals.
  • Manage an environment that drives performance while maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Direct and coordinate sanitation activities to meet internal and external customer and regulatory expectations.
  • Review and complete department documentation, including the Daily Sanitation Log Audit, Master Sanitation Program, training records, timekeeping, and performance reviews.
  • Perform other tasks and projects assigned by the Quality Control Department.
