Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited University.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario with good standing, or eligible within six (6) months of hire.
  • Experience in new Nuclear Reactor design and construction projects required.
  • 10+ years’ experience supporting various types of projects including engineering services, refurbishments, and/or new build construction projects.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading teams is required.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, qualified to seal engineering documents.
  • Experience managing and/or performing multidisciplinary work with significant interfacing requirements with interfacing disciplines such as licensing, safety analysis, civil, process control, and Mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to build and inspire a team to work towards common goals.
  • Experience managing direct reports within a project delivery functional support model.
  • Lead by example, setting high standards for Health & Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer relationship skills. Demonstrated oral and written communication abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Managing the design process from detailed design to site/field implementation.
  • Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Coordinating and oversight of Mechanical design activities related to the completion of fundamental design for a nuclear power plant.
  • Coordinating the design interface between the NSP and balance of plant (BOP) portions of a nuclear power plant.
  • Working with assigned staff to find optimal solutions to project challenges.
  • Providing technical guidance to staff, as appropriate.
  • Ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, and in accordance with the contract, applicable specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Interfacing with stakeholders, including Engineering peers, Modelling, Procurement, Construction representatives, and prospective equipment and/or system vendors, to ensure system designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, and that the resulting designs are constructable, operable, and maintainable.
  • Ensuring department deliverables are produced in accordance with budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.
  • Approving engineering documents and deliverables.
  • Removing barriers that could impact safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Participating in the preparation of commercial proposals and approving the technical content of proposals prepared under their direction.
  • Forecasting resource demands for the assigned work scope, including required skills, capabilities, and durations.
  • Working with marketing and other business groups to maintain and improve client relationships and offerings.
  • Assemble and lead a multidisciplinary project team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain supervisory org. and manage career development of assigned project resources to the betterment of the individuals, the project and the business.
  • Assemble a project team through recruiting, interviewing and/or selecting staff with appropriate skills and establishing training and qualifications planning and development programs suitable for the work and development of succession plans.
  • Performing administrative tasks, e.g., timesheet approvals, vacation approvals, Goal setting, Performance feedback and performance enhancement Make effective decisions / recommendations on human resource issues.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with corporate standards of ethical conduct, cyber-security, import-export regulations, intellectual property protections, and security clearance protocols.
Desired Qualifications
  • Masters and/or PMP certification is an asset.
  • Experience on a new build project is an asset (e.g. nuclear, combined cycle).
  • Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical design (e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, LS-DYNA, GT-STRUDEL, ABAQUS, Solid Works, 3D SMART PLANT or similar) is an asset.
  • Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada is an asset.
  • Experience and capability in regulatory communications in a regulated industry is an asset.
  • Experience in Engineering Change Control process for Field run as build conditions to the Station/Plant, CSA N285.0/CSA N286 and ASME Codes and Standards. Provide dispositions to non-conformances identified by construction and supply chain. Update Technical Specifications when required.
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (CSA N285), and quality standards (CSA N299).
  • Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA standards pertaining to Mechanical /Structural Engineering and other applicable standards and nuclear regulatory guides.

AtkinsRéalis Group, a world-class engineering services and nuclear company, reported fourth-quarter revenue of $2.9 billion, up 13% year-over-year, with full-year revenue reaching $11.0 billion, up 14%. AtkinsRéalis Services revenue increased 17% in Q4 and 16% for the full year. The company achieved diluted earnings per share from Professional Services & Project Management of $2.14 for 2025, up 80%, whilst adjusted diluted EPS reached $3.36, up 88%. Full-year operating cash flow totalled $461 million, and backlog reached a record $21.2 billion as at 31 December 2025. For 2026, AtkinsRéalis expects Engineering Services Regions organic revenue growth of 5-7% and Nuclear revenue of approximately $2.5 billion. Operating cash flow is projected at roughly $500 million.

Ferrovial Buys 5.06% 407 ETR Stake

Ferrovial is set to increase its stake in 407 ETR to 48.29% by acquiring up to 5.06% from AtkinsRéalis for [CAD]2.09 billion. The deal includes a 3.30% acquisition at closing and a 1.76% deferred stake via a put and call option.
