About The Team And The Role
The eBay Search Services team is looking for passionate, self-motivated, and top-notch software engineers to join our team to build and manage world class Search services. Do you want to build highly available distributed search systems that are optimized for low latency, we are looking for you!

Responsibilities
Develop world class search experiences incorporating software engineering best practices to enhance eBay’s search experience.
Lead complex technical efforts across many engineers
Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for next gen technology solutions.
Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa
Conduct design and code reviews
Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources
Drive ideas to improve product and technology stack
Set direction and goals for the team regarding project impact, product quality and engineering efficiency
Lead major initiatives, projects, teams, roll-outs and phased-releases
Helps onboard new team members, provides mentorship and enables successful ramp up on your team’s code bases
Proactively identify and drive changes as needed for the codebase, and/or systems
Qualification
12+ years of software design and development experience, solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and Software Design
Experience leading major initiatives successfully
Relevant experience building large-scale Search applications or similar experience
Experience leading projects and teams accordingly
Experience improving quality through thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes
Experienced in utilizing data and analysis to explain technical problems and providing detailed feedback and solutions
Experience in building large scale Web Services/ APIs (REST/ GraphQL/ gRPC)
Experience in scalable distributed technologies, SQL, No-SQL databases and streaming technologies such as Kafka
Master’s degree in computer science or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.
$168,400 - $262,900
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
