  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen.
  • Experience creating menus and preparing meals for 100-200 clients.
  • ServSafe and Kitchen Manager certification.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Allergen awareness certification.
  • The ability to lift an average of 50 pounds.
  • The ability to understand first-in, first-out inventory control.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare daily meals according to planned menus and creatively use food donations when appropriate.
  • Follow ServSafe protocols for proper handling and storage of food and equipment.
  • Regularly clean kitchen equipment, counters, floors, and related areas.
  • Meet regularly with Corps Officers to review personnel issues, menu plans, and supply and purchasing needs.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals on site to people in need, sometimes with volunteer assistance.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers related to the Soup Kitchen.
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the position.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate's degree and/or bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts.
  • Supervisory skills to manage volunteers.
  • The ability to treat people from varied backgrounds with dignity and respect.
  • Bilingual communication ability.
