Requirements
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; DanceBUG does not sponsor work visas.
  • Applicants must live within approximately one hour of a major airport.
  • Applicants must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Applicants must possess a passport or REAL ID-compliant driver's license for domestic air travel.
  • Applicants must be available to travel Thursday through Monday throughout the season.
  • Applicants must be comfortable driving 5–6 hours when required.
  • Applicants must be comfortable working long production days during competitions.
  • Applicants must be able to lift approximately 25 lbs.
  • Applicants must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Applicants must have experience capturing fast-moving subjects in live-action photography, such as sports, dance, theatre, concerts, gymnastics, figure skating, cheerleading, low-light events, or high-volume events.
  • Applicants must be comfortable shooting in manual mode using continuous autofocus under changing lighting conditions.
  • Applicants must provide their own professional photography equipment, including two professional mirrorless camera bodies from Canon, Nikon, or Sony; a compatible constant- or fixed-aperture zoom lens; a 70–200mm lens; four memory cards of at least 64GB; a compatible media card reader; at least three batteries and two chargers; and a monopod.
  • Applicants must provide a link to a live-action photography portfolio, their current city and state, and a brief overview of relevant photography experience.
Responsibilities
  • Travel to dance competitions throughout the United States.
  • Photograph live performances under constantly changing stage lighting.
  • Capture sharp, well-timed action images.
  • Work collaboratively with DanceBUG videographers throughout each event.
  • Back up, transfer, and upload image files following each competition.
Desired Qualifications
  • A 24–105mm or 24–120mm lens is preferred.
  • An f/2.8 lens is preferred; f/4 is accepted.
