Requirements
  • Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia are essential.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a sales capacity in hotels within Australasia.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Marketing, Business, or Hospitality Management.
  • Formal Sales Management training.
  • Comprehension of hotel systems and revenue management principles.
  • A proactive approach to developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, including customers' senior management.
  • In-depth knowledge of sales principles and techniques, new business hunting, and key account management strategies.
  • Strict adherence to IHG policy concerning responsible business.
  • Strong presentation, commercial, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees, and third parties in a manner that reflects well on the hotel, brand, and IHG.
  • A proven track record of results, stimulating higher performance standards, and pursuing organizational and personal goals.
  • Confidence in negotiating to achieve the best outcome for the hotel, client, and third-party stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Follow up and negotiate on sales leads and quoted business to secure business, understand client needs, and optimize hotel revenue through yield management and upselling hotel facilities or services.
  • Work with the Director of Sales to understand the long-range business forecast and the tactical measures and pricing strategies required to meet budgeted revenue targets.
  • Take appropriate action to exceed hotel revenue budgets and forecasts.
  • Tailor requests for proposals and proposals to meet client needs.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to enlarge the sales base, create an ongoing pipeline, and shift business from competitors through active customer engagement via voice conversations.
  • Monitor progress toward sales goals and adjust actions as necessary.
  • Report monthly on sales activities and conversions against targets.
  • Monitor competitor practices and strategies to understand competitor trends and keep each property's products and services ahead of the competition.
  • Attend team meetings and conference-and-events revenue/yield meetings, providing input on secured and negotiated leads.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of IHG processes and systems, including Delphi, I-Know reporting, Meeting Broker, and Sales Source.
  • Understand competitors' product and service delivery.
  • Support property sales initiatives through client entertainment, familiarizations, and other events included in the sales and marketing plan.
  • Proactively target new and existing clients and strategically source new business from them to drive repeat hotel business.
