Requirements
  • Therapeutic Assistant I - High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Therapeutic Assistant II - Bachelor's degree in Human Services or closely related field, or high school diploma and 1 year of experience in behavioral health or related healthcare required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Certification in Traumatic and Behavioral Health Training (TACT) and First Aid within the first 6 months of employment and annually thereafter for TACT and biannually for BLS and First Aid.
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing (continuous), sitting (continuous), walking (continuous), climbing stairs (infrequent), indoors (continuous), outdoors in temperature extremes (infrequent), from elevated areas (frequent), in confined/cramped spaces (frequent), kneeling (infrequent), bending (continuous), twisting (frequent), squatting (frequent), pinching (frequent), gross motor and fine manipulation with hands, arms, wrists (continuous), reaching overhead and in all directions (frequent/continuous), lifting and carrying 50 pounds unassisted (infrequent), lifting from floor to 36 inches unassisted 50 pounds (infrequent), lifting from 36 inches to overhead 25 pounds (infrequent), exerting up to 50 pounds of force (frequent), vision and hearing requirements with correction, ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required, ability to work in a latex safe environment, maintain tactile sensory functions, maintain olfactory sensory function for selected positions, be qualified physically for respirator use for selected positions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care as directed by the multi-disciplinary treatment plan and the daily assignment sheet under the direction of a registered nurse.
  • Assist with patient admission on discharge processes.
  • Monitor and promote the safety of the therapeutic environment.
  • Assure that patient’s activities of daily living are maintained.
  • Support the therapeutic program.
