Responsibilities
  • Sell all company products to new and existing accounts by developing relationships and achieving profitable revenue growth in the assigned territory.
  • Expand sales within existing accounts, focus on customer service, develop relationships with key decision makers, respond to customer needs, and monitor account activity.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, set realistic customer expectations, solve customer problems, meet commitments, and seek customer input.
  • Learn and explain product features and benefits, sell the full product line, understand customer operations and needs, respond to competition, and apply market knowledge.
  • Achieve business plan and new business development goals.
  • Develop detailed sales and marketing plans, forecast sales, and manage time and workflow.
  • Submit accurate and timely sales reports, maintain account records, use samples and literature efficiently, maintain company equipment, use consultants efficiently, and maximize promotions and incentive programs.
  • Develop new business, identify and sell to customer needs, translate product features into benefits, deliver effective presentations, negotiate, and create effective call plans.
  • Meet or exceed sales growth targets and increase sales volume over the previous year.
  • Use vendor incentive or assistance programs to grow sales and qualify for applicable incentive programs.
  • Maintain planned contact with key customers to identify future needs and advance growth opportunities or improve relationships.
  • Keep account profiles, sales-call notes, sales funnels, and target-account information current and accurate.
  • Train customer personnel on vendor catalogs, thread identification, crimper calibration, and the Safe Hydraulics training program.
  • Collect, process, store, and use competitor information; understand competitor strengths, weaknesses, products, and service offerings.
  • Obtain product and market information from vendors.
  • Use strategic sales-planning forms and follow the documented sales process.
  • Maintain systems for product and service information.
  • Use company technology tools to improve customer service and increase sales.
  • Participate with other salespeople in customer training, conversations, and sales blitzes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer performance and report deficiencies to stakeholders.
  • Create plans to achieve agreed skill-development objectives in listening, prospecting, qualifying, probing, negotiation, and presentations.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Industrial distribution experience is preferred.
  • Original equipment manufacturer and maintenance, repair, and operations experience is desirable.
  • Experience in the hose or fluid power industry is a plus.
