At Retool, we’re changing the way software is built. We’ve developed the fastest way to build internal tools, saving companies time, resources, and engineering bandwidth. Whether it’s refunding orders, underwriting loans, managing marketplaces, rolling out new features, analyzing transactions, or providing customer support, Retool makes it dramatically faster and easier to build internal tools that teams need. We believe that the future of software development lies in being a force multiplier for developers and technical builders, helping them move considerably faster building a lot more software. We’re looking for highly collaborative people as we build a world-class team to support this mission and we’d love for you to join us!
WHY WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU
We want every developer in the world to discover their power to solve problems of any size with software. For that to happen, we need to get the word out about Retool, and empower developers with the educational content they need to get started. Whether through blog posts, docs, example apps, videos, or live streams, developers should always be able to find the content they need in the medium they prefer.
We are looking for a Developer Advocate to lead our technical content creation efforts. In this role, you will both produce high quality technical content, and empower other developer advocates, engineers, and contributors across Retool to do the same.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
In this role, you will ensure that high quality technical content is released regularly across every medium where developers learn about Retool, including our blog, YouTube channel, and more. You will refine the process by which we scope, develop, release, and promote technical content. You’ll partner with Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Engineering, Design, and Product Management to ensure that we are telling the right stories at the right time, and getting maximum exposure and return on investment for our content. While you will of course create technical content yourself, it will be just as important for you to empower others inside Retool (like your fellow developer advocates or other contributors) to ship their content at a consistently high level of quality.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a specialist in media creation, and will produce technical content both in written and video form.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will work across every function in the Developer Experience team, with our docs team, developer advocates, and community teams being your most frequent collaborators. Outside of the DX team, you will work with our web engineering team, brand and design team, and any internal teams that want to participate in technical content creation.
The Developer Experience team is remote first, but we make a point of gathering IRL on a regular basis to reflect on what’s working and not working, develop professional skills, plan for the future, and connect with one another.
THE SKILLS YOU’LL BRING
- Experience as a software developer, giving you the empathy and insight to choose compelling topics for technical content creation
- Experience in video content creation and/or live streaming
- High attention to detail and organizational skills, enabling you to keep the content trains running on time
- Ability to work cross-functionally with designers, developers, marketers, and the entire community of professionals required to ship technical content
- Ability to provide feedback and editorial guidance to other content creators
