Requirements
  • A strong portfolio of shipped product work demonstrating design taste and craft is required.
  • Genuine user experience and visual design ability from concept through high-fidelity execution is required.
  • Deep proficiency in Figma, including low-fidelity exploration, high-fidelity developer-ready designs, and maintaining shared component libraries, is required.
  • Solid frontend engineering skills and comfort building production interfaces in modern React and TypeScript are required.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted design and development and an instinct for building AI-native interfaces are required.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and owning outcomes end to end is required.
Responsibilities
  • Own the visual and interaction design of core product surfaces and build them in production React and TypeScript.
  • Set the bar for user experience quality across the product, including interaction states, motion, hierarchy, and interface details.
  • Turn rough product ideas into polished, high-fidelity experiences and prototype quickly to pressure-test direction before commitment.
  • Shape and steward the design system and visual language so quality scales as the product grows.
  • Partner directly with engineering and marketing on product direction, not just execution.
  • Use AI tooling and agents as a core part of the work to design and ship faster.
Desired Qualifications
  • Motion design experience, including animation and micro-interactions that make interfaces feel alive and guide attention, is preferred.
  • Illustration or visual storytelling ability, including creating original graphics, diagrams, or brand-aligned artwork for product and marketing surfaces, is preferred.
  • Experience designing for developer platforms or API-first products and understanding what makes technical tools intuitive to build on is preferred.

AssemblyAI provides an API-driven Speech AI platform that converts audio and video into text and insights. Its models handle automatic transcription and add-ons like speaker diarization, sentiment analysis, and PII redaction, all delivered through scalable API endpoints so customers can integrate transcription and audio analytics into their own apps. Unlike many competitors, AssemblyAI emphasizes a combination of high accuracy, broad capabilities (including privacy-focused features), and ongoing model improvements from a research-driven team, with a subscription-based pricing model for access and data processed. The company aims to help businesses unlock voice data by turning speech into actionable information that can power products and services across tech, media, and enterprise sectors.
