Amentum is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Apprentice to join our manufacturing team in Winston Salem, NC!
The Industrial Maintenance Apprentices will have the opportunity to assist and job shadow senior technicians, improving job skill and industry exposure while performing preventive maintenance on a wide variety of facility and process related equipment, such as industrial electrical systems and lighting, overhead doors, pumps and motors, valves, conveyors, motors, pumps, electrical control systems, automated equipment, and piping, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts planned preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventative maintenance actions (lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.) as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Reviews and submits work order updates to planner scheduler.
- Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
- Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
- Operates a PC with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Meet the College’s requirements for reading, math, and basic tools competency.
- Follow the apprenticeship curriculum mix of classroom education and hands-on industry experience.
- Be available to work any shift/hours during the work phase of the apprenticeship,
- Must be willing to work overtime when required.
- Be at least 18 years or older.
Additional Information:
- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
- This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
- This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
- This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to regularly lift to 50 lbs.
- Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
- Requires the ability and flexibility to bend/stoop, squat, move in a 90-degree fashion, stretch/reach repetitively throughout shift.
- Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
- Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
- Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
- Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
- Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic repair theory.
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory,
- Mechanical skills, sufficient to assist with and perform preventive maintenance and repairs to facility related equipment such as lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes.
- Experience safely utilizing a wide variety of hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, email, etc.
