Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood, early childhood/special education, child and family development, family life specialist, communication sciences, psychology, or social work.
  • Certification in a relevant specialty or field.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience.
  • At least one year of experience working with infants or toddlers with special needs or developmental delays and their families.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Responsibilities
  • Perform evaluations, reports, goals, direct therapy, and consultation services for children with developmental and diagnostic indicators.
  • Deliver consultation services to parents, caregivers, teachers, and community specialists regarding client progress and recommendations.
  • Maintain effective communications with parents while preserving confidentiality regarding individual children and family needs.
  • Input patient data into appropriate computer systems in a timely manner and ensure compliance with all licensing regulations.
  • Participate as a team member in the assessment of children’s developmental functioning using formal and informal testing measures to examine cognitive, motor, language, social-emotional, and self-help skills.
  • Perform assessments focusing on the use of standardized psychological measures of development under the supervision of a Doctor of Philosophy Psychologist.
  • Provide early intervention services and direct instruction to families and caregivers in natural environments such as the home and community.
  • Interpret developmental and medical assessment results for families as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care and Individualized Family Support Plans based on child and family assessments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to determine the best available services for the child and parent within the community.
  • Educate parents about the child’s strengths, weaknesses, and developmental needs through the Family Support Planning Process.
  • Evaluate developmental progress to determine the efficiency of interventions.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Creole.
