Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • An in-progress bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering is required.
  • Experience performing structural analysis and design is required.
  • Completed Statics coursework is required.
  • Capability to perform structural analysis and design with metal and/or composite materials.
  • Experience performing classical stress analysis using closed-form methods from textbooks such as Bruhn, Niu, and Roark.
  • Basic knowledge of structural failure modes, including material strength, buckling, and crippling.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
  • Learn and apply HyperX and other industry-standard computer-aided engineering software for preliminary and detail analysis and design sizing optimization of full airframe and space vehicles.
  • Perform trade studies for weight savings and part producibility.
  • Perform both preliminary and detail design and analysis.
  • Document design and analysis results.
  • Report sizing and analysis results to industry original equipment manufacturer customers.
  • Verify and describe the application of external loadings and their resolution into critical internal mechanical and thermal load paths, resulting optimum design, and margins of safety.
  • Resolve project issues in a timely fashion and create workaround procedures when needed.
  • Escalate urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate engineering leads.

  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis and computer-aided design software such as CATIA or SolidWorks.
