Requirements
  • Perform ultrasound procedures at the entry level with knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology.
  • Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations on children, adolescents, and adults for physician interpretation.
  • Have 0–1 year of experience performing ultrasound diagnostic procedures.
  • Hold certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or be registry eligible; if not certified, obtain certification within the first year of employment.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support certification through an American Heart Association-recognized provider or the American Red Cross.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Be able to perform the listed physical functions, including standing, walking, climbing step stools, working in confined spaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, repetitive hand and limb movements, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, moving patients up to approximately 350 pounds with assistance, and pushing or pulling objects or patients up to approximately 350 pounds unassisted.
  • Maintain the specified corrected vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color discrimination, hearing acuity, tactile sensory function, and olfactory sensory function.
  • Be ambidextrous and possess good finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Be physically qualified by medical personnel for respirator use initially and annually.
  • Use hand and power tools and work in dusty areas.
  • Deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.

  • Perform ultrasound diagnostic procedures and produce high-quality examinations for physician interpretation on pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of modality-specific experience is preferred.
