Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • Four to six years of industry experience.
  • One year of previous Product Management experience or a minimum of four years of underwriting, actuarial, or other industry experience.
  • A basic understanding of Property and Casualty insurance products.
  • An understanding of the operational nature of product implementation and the product life cycle.
  • The ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and initiative.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to travel on behalf of the company.
  • The ability to negotiate effectively with agents, underwriting, and actuarial teams.
  • The ability to effectively manage high-pressure situations.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Be accountable for growth and profitability for an assigned line of business or region, including year-over-year growth targets, rate-plan achievement, and proactive identification and resolution of key concerns.
  • Monitor and surveil key initiatives, monitor progress and success, and elevate concerns and proposed solutions to the Director or Assistant Vice President of Product.
  • Work with leadership to identify potential vendors that could offer value-added services to the organization.
  • Identify new focus markets and collaborate to develop a comprehensive strategy for profitable market growth.
  • Work closely with Underwriting and Marketing to understand client needs and provide product and market knowledge.
  • Help develop the product management team by cultivating a culture where ideas are welcomed and shared, actively engaging the team, and assisting other product managers when needed.
  • Review pricing, design features, distribution, marketing, underwriting, and claims factors to make recommendations and incorporate cross-divisional expertise into a holistic strategy.
  • Work with other areas and Information Technology to determine project prioritization and implementation.
  • Provide guidance to functional areas on product design and management and make recommendations based on functional and regional knowledge and improvement opportunities.
  • Use industry reporting tools to provide competitor insight, market share, and regional or line-of-business performance information to senior leadership.
  • Work with the Business Intelligence team to develop standardized monthly reports for a specified region or line of business and measure and monitor growth, profitability, and product-development initiatives.
  • Recommend product enhancements based on competitor, field, and client feedback.
  • Work with Marketing to identify areas of focus and opportunity; develop plans including market research and analysis to support prospecting initiatives, marketing campaigns, and branding; and support development of agent- and client-facing marketing collateral.
  • Manage strategies related to multiple product profitability objectives and work cross-functionally with Underwriting, Claims, and agencies to identify loss drivers and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate on the coordination and implementation of new products and product changes.
  • Lead product-related internal and external training and education.
  • Guide implementation of new tools and technology to enhance product performance, with a focus on innovation.
  • Validate and confirm effective execution of pricing and product initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate critical internal processes, including Growth and Profitability calls and Operational Reviews.
  • Lead and coordinate the Product Development process.
  • Lead cross-functional strategy teams and work with Regional Field Executives to execute the strategy.
  • Work with the Project Management Organization to build project charters and develop execution plans for product enhancements and new product offerings.
  • Work with Regional Field Executives and Actuarial to develop annual growth plans by agent, managing general large agency, state, region, and line of business.
  • Work with the Project Management Organization, CTS Management, and Business Analysts to build annual line-of-business maintenance schedules for rate and regulatory changes.
  • Work with the Project Management Organization and CTS Management to identify and implement technology enhancements within the annual business plan.
  • Develop an annual business plan for assigned lines of business or region, including product development projects, Growth and Profitability actions, and regulatory changes.
