- Bachelor of Science degree with at least five years of molecular biology experience or Master of Science degree with at least three years of molecular biology experience.
- In depth knowledge and experience implementing molecular cloning techniques, particularly recombineering using bacterial artificial chromosomes.
- Experience culturing and targeting embryonic stem cells.
- Basic knowledge of mouse genetics.
- Basic understanding of genetic engineering in mice.
- Generation of reagents, such as CRISPR/Cas9 sgRNA, targeting vector, and bacterial artificial chromosome, to be used for genetic engineering in mice.
- Validation of reagents using in vitro cleavage assay, PCR-based methods and DNA sequencing.
- Genotyping of models using PCR, qPCR, Southern blot and sequencing.
- Independently review the relevant literature to understand and propose the best methods that can be applied to the needs of the group.
- Interacting with peers and collaborators in a professional manner and productively.
- Keep abreast of, and use, state-of-the-art technologies for generation of new GEMs.
- Prepare, review and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external use.
- Experience using nuclease technology, including CRISPR/Cas, TALEN and ZFN, will be given special consideration.
