Opportunity Awaits, Apply Today! Customer Service Assistant- Part-Time
As the Customer Service Assistant for the Talking Book & Braille Library at the State Library of Oregon (SLO), you will support the library’s customer service initiatives by speaking with patrons on the phone: answering routine questions, gathering information from patrons who will need additional support from other staff, and explaining how various library services work. This position is vital in helping Program Supervisor and staff of the division with customer service support and projects that enhance the library users’ experience in accessing the services provided by Talking Books.
This position is in-person on a part-time schedule, up to 15 hours per week. Schedule is negotiable within the operation hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm) to meet Agency and Division needs.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled at least half-time in high school, college, or graduate program.
Desired Attributes:
Ability to apply rules, standards, policies, and procedures.
Skills for maintaining accuracy in data entry.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to approach all interactions with a high degree of professionalism, even under sensitive/difficult circumstances.
Skill in explaining information to the public (in person, on the telephone, or in writing) policies relating to a particular program, operation, or service.
Computer Literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

*Note- Part-time employees are eligible for benefits at a prorated rate if they meet eligibility as detailed in OAR 101-015-0005. Part-time employees are paid on an hourly basis, so depending on the schedule worked, the benefits and the holidays will be pro-rated as well.
