General Description:
The Trial Support Specialist works directly with trial teams to provide all aspects of trial support, including pre-trial evidence management, preparation of evidence and demonstratives for presentation at legal proceedings, and technical support before and during trial. The qualified candidate should have practical experience with Relativity, Everlaw and other eDiscovery platforms.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Willing to travel to serve as the "hot seat" operator during legal proceedings to manage and present exhibits and multimedia presentations..
- Prepare and organize trial exhibits.
- Edit and organize audio and video materials.
- Set up, test, and manage equipment and trial presentation software at trials, litigation war rooms, mediations,
- and arbitrations.
- Create and develop demonstrative visuals to support case presentation before and during trial.
- Conduct pre-trial simulations to ensure smooth execution of technology and presentation materials.
- Work closely with attorneys to understand case specifics and develop effective presentation strategies.
- Assist eDiscovery Project Managers with client requests
- Responsible for the execution of litigation support projects
- Oversee full life cycle of projects according to project manager and client parameters.
- Implement recommended practices in line with firm policies and goals in eDiscovery cases.
- Work with the eDiscovery Client Services Manager and eDiscovery Project Managers to ensure that legal teams are using appropriate, innovative and cost-effective technologies to manage the discovery process.
- Coordinate data transfer and storage, utilizing firm policies and best practices.
- Track delivery schedules, ensuring proper quality assurance, and manage changes in work scope.
- Participate in post-project analysis to discover workflow inefficiencies and obstacles. Work with eDiscovery Services team to apply quality control processes and improvements to the discovery process.
- Assist with the development and delivery of training to litigation case teams on effective document review protocol utilizing both firm and vendor technology.
- Coordinate and work with H&K Review Center.
- Promote use of litigation technology, practice support services and products within the firm.
- Coordinate electronic and paper document discovery, including processing, scanning, coding, review and productions.
- Ensure expertise in relevant technology; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.
- Participate in appropriate industry organizations and stay current with developments in litigation technology.
- Special project and duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Hands on trial presentation experience using OnCue or Trial Director.
- Create trial demonstratives, such as PowerPoint presentations, timelines, flowcharts, org. charts, bar charts, pie charts, document call outs, floor plans, and site plans.
- Familiarity with standard litigation support platforms, Relativity, Everlaw, and Opus2 preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational and planning skills.
- Collaborative mind-set.
- Experience with Brainspace
Required Qualifications & Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5+ years of professional litigation experience.
- Trial presentation experience using OnCue or Trial Director.
- Experience in designating and creating mockups for web-based programs.
- High proficiency in graphic design, infographics and MS PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, MS PowerPoint
- Experience with audio and visual editing tools
Preferred Qualifications & Education:
- Experience with Everlaw Analytics, or other analytics tools are plus.
- Large law firm experience or strong consulting background preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
- Able to travel for long periods of time to support legal proceedings
This position may be filled in the District of Columbia, New York, Colorado or California. In accordance with the District of Columbia Wage Transparency Law, New York State Pay Transparency Law, New York City Human Rights Law, the Colorado Equal Pay Act, and the California Pay Transparency Law, the pay range for this position in the District of Columbia is $121,000 - $181,400/year, New York State is $84,500 - $152,000/year, in New York City is $101,400 - $152,000/year, in Colorado is $88,700 - $133,100/year, and in California is $97,100 - $158,400/year. These ranges are specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. An individual’s actual compensation will depend on the individual’s qualifications and experience.
