Requirements
  • A community college degree is required; CIP, FCIP, or CRM designations are an asset.
  • At least 10 years of senior casualty file-handling experience is required.
  • Prior experience mentoring and conducting technical evaluations is required.
  • Proficiency in claims investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement is required.
  • Expert understanding of tort law, insurance policies, contracts, and the litigation process is required.
  • Expert understanding of medical record analysis and terminology, along with strong knowledge of human anatomy, is required.
  • Knowledge of risk-mitigation and cost-control strategies is required.
  • At least 1 year of previous leadership or formal team-mentoring experience is required.
  • Effective written and spoken communication is required.
  • Critical judgment and decision-making skills are required.
  • Resilience, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of casualty adjusters to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Create individualized performance and development plans based on each adjuster's role and development level.
  • Review productivity metrics with adjusters to ensure strong results.
  • Support the design and implementation of adjuster training and skills development.
  • Manage workflow, caseload distribution, and team productivity to meet service-level agreements and key performance indicators.
  • Monitor claim files and review them with adjusters to maintain accuracy, consistency, and internal standards for investigation, negotiation, settlement decisions, and documentation.
  • Handle escalated claims, disputed adjuster decisions, and technical coverage issues requiring senior-level expertise and decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with the Insurance Act, multi-provincial regulations, and litigation standards.
  • Support, design, and roll out casualty-specific initiatives.
  • Contribute hands-on to the development of smaller projects led by the Business Management team.
