Job Responsibilities
As a Regional BIM Manager, you will be responsible for allocating resources to properly execute BIM/CAD work for all offices withing region. Focus on Coordination of Projects and the Project Team both internally and externally. Works to increase the design and production efficiency of designers/engineers and CAD/BIM technicians/supervisors while minimizing coordination issues, omissions, and errors. Ensures projects are progressing efficiently, communicating pertinent information to the project team and continuously train, educate, and provide documentation to staff in the most efficient CAD/BIM techniques.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Able to perform and support all tasks required of all BIM Technicians as required.
- Able to allocate resources to properly execute BIM/CAD work for all regional offices.
- Work in coordination with external client CAD/BIM Coordinator for modeling and following CAD/BIM formats
- Manage CAD/BIM coordination on projects specific to CAD/BIM skills (Includes working in coordination with external client CAD/BIM Coordinator for modeling and following CAD/BIM formats)
- Manage all incoming workload and responsiveness to new requests ensuring every project has a CAD/BIM team member assigned to it
- Track all active projects within region, prioritizing due dates and resources required.
- Meet regularly with regional office/team leaders to ensure needs are being met and discuss any obstacles to the process.
- Work closely and openly with other Regional BIM Managers to share resources and proactively assist where available.
- Adheres to Syska CAD/BIM standards and works with the NBT to ensure consistency among all the regions.
- Ensures a BIM QA/QC is performed on key projects to ensure compliance and provides reports back to project team both to commend and identify points of improvement.
- Monitors Regional BIM Team manpower and makes recommendations when additional manpower is needed (temporarily or permanently)
- Manage and coordinate the efforts to share work with China. Ensures all team members follow workflows in place.
- Assists with CAD/BIM related Helpdesk/Support issues, utilizes technicians to assist on project related issues within region.
- Actively support in the growth and development of CAD/BIM Workflows and technologies within Syska
- Ensure all regional technicians are kept up to date with information and adhere to standards across the Firm.
- Provide new-hire orientations to all those within region, orienting them to the Syska process and introducing them to Syska resources
- Assist NBT in providing lunch-n-learns, webinars, training sessions, documentation, videos under direction of BIM Director. Ensures all in region are getting access to latest and accurate information.
- Attending BIM project kick-off meetings and client meetings.
- Manage/Supervise CAD/BIM technicians within region depending on size and number of technicians within region.
- Review BIM Execution Plans, LOD, and other BIM requirements. Educate and inform project team on requirements.
- Support all offices within region (provide office visits as needed especially if no local BIM Team representation exists)
- Support, maintain and enforce use of approved CAD/BIM standards and workflows firm-wide.
- Ensure basic/preliminary coordination/clash checks on projects are completed and adhered to
- Work with PM and Project Leads to set proper expectations and workflows for specific projects with requirements.
- Attend and participate in internal/external BIM meetings.
- Assist in creating written documentation and videos.
- Assess, Interview and Evaluate skillsets of candidates
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and MEP tools. You will need effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload, and be a team player with strong communication skills.
Additional requirements:
- High School or completion of trade school or equivalent formal training
- A minimum of 10 year of years of working experience with an AEC Firm in a CAD/BIM with a MEP firm
- Demonstrated advanced and efficient skills with the latest versions of Revit and MEP workflow
- Demonstrated advanced skills with AutoCAD and MEP tools
- Proficient at working with drawings and understanding of red marks
- Proficient in reading and understanding floor plans, sections and elevations
- Proficient in the latest National CAD/BIM standards
- Experience with manipulating and receiving various file formats
- Extensive work experience with at least one: Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing trades
- Experience with MS Office Suite
- Available to work necessary hours to meet project deadlines
